How I Work In Therapy

Counselling with me is a collaborative and grounded process. My approach is trauma-informed and rooted in understanding the nervous system and attachment patterns, drawing on Polyvagal Theory and EFIT (Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy).

I offer a space where you can safely learn about yourself, while I learn you, your journey, your patterns, and how you manage emotions in the present day. We work together to gently explore what’s holding you back, including survival strategies, emotional blocks, and habits formed through past experiences.

This work is about building safety, deepening self-awareness, and reconnecting with parts of yourself that may have been shut down. Whether you’re healing from trauma, relational wounds, or past abuse, we’ll go at a pace that honours your nervous system and capacity.

Before we begin, I’ll send a contract outlining how I work. I ask new clients to commit to an initial block of six sessions, these can be paid for up front for a discount.

This isn’t just about time, it’s about safety. Trauma work often stirs deep emotions, and having a planned structure allows us to contain, manage, and process things more safely. It creates a stable foundation where trust, regulation, and therapeutic momentum can begin to build.

This work is not going to completed in a couple of sessions, it’s a process of deep, lasting change, and I’m here to support you through it.
